The Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center, Morven Park, Leesburg, is one of three campuses of the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine.  (The others are College Park, Maryland, and Blacksburg, Virginia).

The Center serves as one of the college’s teaching hospitals, admitting 2600 horses each year.  Faculty conduct basic and applied research programs focused on translational research to improve animal and human health.

Equine Medical Center activities include:

• Training 4th year veterinary students and medical and surgical residents.
• Providing elective and emergency service for horse owners and referring   veterinarians.
• Providing specialty care in equine internal medicine, surgery and anesthesia.
• Researching equine gastrointestinal disorders such as colic and ulcers and common problems afflicting performance horses, such as lameness and respiratory complications.
• Developing improved techniques for correcting orthopedic problems in horses.
• Collaborating with the Middleburg Agricultural Research Experiment Center on equine nutrition and performance related research.
