Sebring currently works on a part-time basis for the RDT. Previously, he held the full-time positions of Director of RDT and Associate Director, Corporate and Government Relations, for Virginia Bioinformatics Institute (VBI). In that capacity, he was instrumental in the formation of VBI and its early success. Prior to joining Virginia Tech, Sebring had retired from the IBM Corporation where he held positions including Senior Marketing Manager, Manager of Science Data Management, and Manager of Market Intelligence for Global Public Sector.

Responsibilities

As analyst for the RDT, Sebring is responsible for tracking federal budgets related to research, identifying emerging opportunities for large contracts or grants, helping to identify new areas where Virginia Tech faculty can be in the forefront of shaping federal research agendas, and assisting with connecting faculty to opportunities, particularly in the informatics domain.
