Industrial and Systems Engineering

Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) is concerned with the design, improvement, and installation of integrated systems of people, materials, information, equipment and energy. The ISE Department combines a "hands-on" educational philosophy in conjunction with a systems approach to instruction, scholarship, research and extension.

Graduate programs and research activities in the National Capital Region provide superior educational opportunities to qualified students from government, industry, and other universities.  Based on data by the Industrial Engineering Division of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE), the Virginia Tech ISE Department has consistently ranked in the top 10 among industrial engineering departments in every category.

M.S. and MEA degrees are offered in Industrial and Systems Engineering.
