Human Development
The Human Development major, offered within the Department of Human Development, is concerned with quality of life for our society's most important elements-- the individual, family, and community. Students learn about human development over the life span, and about how to create environments that help families and individuals at each stage of life.
The Adult Learning and Human Resource Development (ALHRD) Program, an option in Human Resources, is offered in the National Capital Region at the Northern Virginia Center in Falls Church. This program is designed for people who work with adult learners in business, industry, government, military, health care, education, nonprofit organizations and professional associations and want to earn the Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy Degrees in Human Development. Since 1980, ALHRD has provided training in the metropolitan DC area, based upon five domains of professional practice: facilitation, design, planning, change, and research.
Students can earn an M.S. or Ph.D. degree.
