Civil and Environmental Engineering
The Charles E. Via, Jr. Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering offers M.S. and Ph.D. degree educational programs in civil and environmental engineering.
Recently ranked by the U. S. News and World Report survey in the top 11 of accredited civil engineering departments, programs focus on the areas of civil infrastructure, environmental, geospatial, transportation, and systems engineering.
Approximately 100 students participate in the National Capital Region programs and graduates can expect to move into advanced positions as project managers, lab directors, engineering managers, technology executives, and university faculty.
The following degrees are offered:
- M.S. and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering
- M.S. and Ph.D. in Environmental Science and Engineering
- M.E. in Geospatial Engineering
Certificates can also be earned in:
- Treatment Process Engineering
- Water Quality Management
- Urban Hydrology and Stormwater Management
