The Charles E. Via, Jr. Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering offers M.S. and Ph.D. degree educational programs in civil and environmental engineering. 

Recently ranked by the U. S. News and World Report survey in the top 11 of accredited civil engineering departments, programs focus on the areas of civil infrastructure, environmental, geographic information systems, transportation, infrastructure, and systems engineering. 
 
Approximately 100 students participate in the Northern Virginia Division programs and graduates can expect to move into advanced positions as project managers, lab directors, engineering managers and technology executives, and university faculty

The following degrees are offered:
