National Capital Region honors Michele Eldredge, administrative assistant, Human Development, with 2009 Outstanding Staff Award
Eldredge
Michele Eldredge, administrative assistant, Human Development, was recognized by Virginia Tech National Capital Region as the 2008 Outstanding Staff Award winner during a recent staff appreciation celebration. The award is presented annually in recognition of “consistently exceptional service to the university” and carries a $500 prize.
In making the announcement, Jim Bohland, vice president and executive director, National Capital Region Operations, said that in her nomination Eldredge was cited for having “consistently shown outstanding commitment and dedication to the students, her program, and Virginia Tech” for the past 12 years.
Supporting her nomination, faculty, students, and colleagues in other graduate programs lauded Eldredge for “helping students improve their work and make the experience of graduate education at Virginia Tech a rewarding one,” and for her “hard work and willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty to help in any way she can.”

During the staff appreciation event, Bohland also presented certificates to the other five outstanding staff award nominees: Emily Cuykendall, senior program administrator, Outreach Program Development; Ganchimeg (Ganaa) Darambazar, administrative assistant, National Capital Region Operations; Justin Davenport, director of Information Systems, National Capital Region; Joanna Kelly, administrative assistant, School of Education, and Jessica Loving, administrative assistant, Executive MBA Program.
Bohland thanked the five judges who had “the tough assignment of selecting a winner from six outstanding nominees”: Myriam Lechuga and Pat Meneely (both previous winners of the award), Manisa Pipattanasomporn, assistant professor, Advanced Research Institute, Melony Price-Rhodes, project director, Institute for Policy and Governance, and Jim Wolf, professor, Center for Public Information and Policy.
