Russell Cargo, director, Nonprofit and Civil Society Program, Virginia Tech Institute for Policy and Governance (IPG),  was an invited speaker at the recent dedication of the Mandel Center for Nonprofit Organizations on the Case Western Reserve University campus, Cleveland, Ohio. One of the first nonprofit academic centers in the country, the Mandel Center is now the first to be housed in its own building.

“In so many ways, the Mandel Center has been a leading contributor both to the remarkable growth and recognition of the nonprofit sector and to the development of nonprofit management as an academic discipline,” said Cargo, who is currently serving a two-year term as president of the Nonprofit Academic Centers Council (NACC).  “With this building dedication, the Mandel Center raises the bar for all of us.”

The Mandel Center was established in 1984. The Center’s unique graduate programs focus on developing nonprofit leaders and managers into career community leaders.  It is distinguished by the quality of its faculty, its multi-disciplinary curriculum, the strength of its ties with nonprofit leaders and its close relationships with four Case Western University sponsoring schools: The College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Law, the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences, and the Weatherhead School of  Management.
